松花江源出長白山天池，擁有眾多支流，在滿語中的原意是“天河”。它如一條綠色飄帶橫貫吉林市全城。全長1840多公里，流域面積545000平方公里，在全國各大江河流域中，僅次于長江、黃河，居第三位，好比東北人民的保姆。它不僅寬廣綿長，更擁有富饒美麗的物產和迷人的神...奇風光。松花江滋養(yǎng)著東北引以為傲的黑土地。這里盛產大豆、玉米、高粱、小麥。此外，亞麻、棉花、菸草、蘋果和甜菜亦品質優(yōu)良。松花江也是中國東北地區(qū)的一個大淡水魚場，每年供應的鯉、卿、鰉、哲羅魚等，達四千萬公斤以上。到松花江游覽，自然應當選擇冬季。著名的松花江霧凇只有冬季才出現(xiàn)。觀賞霧凇，最好的當屬每年12月下旬至次年2月底了。吉林霧凇吉林的霧凇屬晶狀霧凇，這種霧凇比較松散呈較大的片狀，最富有觀賞性。

吉林市每年舉辦一次“霧凇冰雪節(jié)”，看的是十里長堤，銀掛滿枝的大氣和妖嬈。吉林還有個霧凇島，也以霧凇多且美麗而得名。這里的地勢較吉林市區(qū)低，又有江水環(huán)抱。冷熱空氣在這里相交，冬季里幾乎天天有樹掛，有時一連幾天也不掉落。島上的曾通屯是欣賞霧淞最好的去處，曾有“賞霧凇，到曾通”之說。這里樹形奇特，沿江的垂柳掛滿了潔白晶瑩的霜花，江風吹拂銀絲閃爍，景色既野又美。霧凇島對面還有一個好去處，那就是烏拉街韓屯江。這是個滿族鎮(zhèn)，居住在這里大多是滿族旗人后裔，韓屯則是個小村，位于松花江畔。如今來的人多了，村民也會在家里布置一些客房給游人住。紙糊的窗戶、火燒的炕、報紙糊的墻，主人用柴房燒飯，空氣中彌漫著農家特有的、好聞的炊煙味。一早起床就會發(fā)現(xiàn)，清晨的霧凇島尤其美，松花江靜靜地流淌，遠處是樹干枯的枝椏。

由于江水在零度以上，因此江上泛著“蒸氣”，風把這些蒸氣吹散了，就如同身處仙境一般。霧凇島民居游客來到這里的民家，就能像東北人那樣盤腿坐在火炕上，吃用大碗裝著的農家菜，喝東北的玉米酒，吃小雞燉蘑菇，這都是黑土地特有的風味。一壺燒酒下肚，所有的人都會被這里樸素的豪爽所感染，寒意和困倦都跑得無影無蹤了。霧凇島交通：從吉林坐汽車去到土城子，然后可包一輛三輪摩托車約5元到霧凇島，然后坐渡船登島。霧凇島住宿：在島上住農家包食住，每天約30元。提醒：拍攝霧凇要等機會，碰運氣。
