鏡泊湖百里長湖之中，山中有湖，湖中有島：有氣勢軒昂的大孤山;有精巧別致的珍珠門;有形神兼?zhèn)涞牡朗可?，除此以外，整個景區(qū)還由吊水樓瀑布、城墻砬子、老鴰砬子、地下熔巖隧道、“地下森林”、唐代渤海國上京龍泉府的遺址等風(fēng)景點組成。鏡泊湖以其獨特的魅力，吸引著大批游客和科學(xué)考察人們前來。這里環(huán)境幽雅，一片恬靜、秀麗的大自然風(fēng)光，這正是鏡泊湖的誘人之處。在湖的北岸半島上，有一些建筑別致的小別墅和旅游設(shè)施，這就是鏡泊湖的游覽中心鏡泊山莊。

除了鏡泊山莊以外，整個湖周圍很少有建筑物，只有山巒和蔥郁的樹林，呈現(xiàn)一派秀麗的大自然風(fēng)光，而這正是鏡泊湖的誘人之處。鏡泊湖位于牡丹江市的西南面，總面積1200平方公里。是我國北方著名的風(fēng)景區(qū)和避暑勝地，被譽為“北方的西湖”。其實，鏡泊湖底曾是牡丹江上游的古河道，大約一萬年以前這一帶火山噴發(fā)，形成了我國這一最大的高山堰塞湖。鏡泊湖南北長45公里，東西為狹長形，最寬處達(dá)6公里。

湖面海拔350米，湖水南淺北深，最深處62米，最淺處只有1米，水面約90平方公里，容水量約16億立方米。門票80元/人次;觀光車10元/人次;船游湖80元/人次。游客前往鏡泊湖，取道牡丹江市，從哈爾濱乘高速列車，到達(dá)牡丹江，僅需四個半小時，然后，再轉(zhuǎn)乘汽車即到景區(qū)中心鏡泊山莊，約需兩個半小時。
