The public libraries are crowded with people on weekdays as well as Sundaysbecause many people, especially students who want to consult reference books fortheir school work, know that they could at least learn something there.

Besides reading in the library,we can also borrow books with librarycards. But books on loan had to be returned within a couple of weeks. As far as Iknow the number of people who borrow books from public libraries is increasingyear after year.

I go to the City Hall library twice a month to read.

        in the reading rooms.

Modern libraries also have xerox rooms, and computer rooms.

If you want to borrow books, you can go to the loan desk, look over the correct call numbers in the card catalog and ask the librarian to take then, out for you.

Or you're allowed to enter the stack room to rind books for yourself, you can look up the bound volume or index for the articles relative to the subject, on which you are going to write thesis.

If the library doesn't subscribe to the magazine which carries the article you want, you can borrow the magazine from other libraries by means of interlibrary loan service.

Don't forget to show your library card or I.

card to the librarian before you go into the reading room, where you can read magazines or newspapers.

Besides, if you want to watch films or slides, you can ask the projectionist to play the videotape for you in the audio visual room, where you can also listen to language tapes and music tapes.

        第四篇:圖書館規(guī)則的英語作文

There has been a heated discussion about libraries at the age of information among people. Some people, especially the younger generation, challenge the value of conventional libraries. When they need any information in their studies or work, they can turn to their computers for help. For this reason, they do not need to go to a library for borrowing or returning one or two books.

While others, including most old people as well as scholars, value libraries. They love libraries because they can enjoy peace and quietness in an isolated spiritual world. And they also have access to rare academic works needed for their studies in the libraries.

In my view, conventional libraries are still available though there is still much room for improving. At the Age of Information, as long as knowledge is respected and cherished, libraries won’t extinct from our lives. On the other hand, libraries should not refuse the latest information technology, which will enable them to regain those young readers.

        第五篇:圖書館規(guī)則的英語作文

You have to borrow books from the library when you are studying at a college. Finding a book in the library is not difficult if you know both the author's name and the title of the book. You can simply go to the author catalogue, which is alphabetically arranged. You will find a card with the author's name, the title of the book, and the shelf mark, which tells where the book is kept in the library. You should then go to the appropriate shelf, take the book, and borrow it at the issue desk.

If you do not know the author, but only the title, check to see if the library has a title catalogue. If it has, check it in the same way as you did with the author catalogue. If there is no title catalogue, then it should have a subject catalogue. You will have to check all the cards in the subject catalogue until you find the one you are looking for. The card with the title on it will also have a shelf mark, and then you can proceed as mentioned before.

If the book is not to be found where it should be kept, it may have been checked out. In that case, you can go to the circulation desk and reserve it.
